As of August, Open Knowledge Solution Corporation has been actively exploring strategic alliances in two fields:
First - with non-profit organizations which are or wish to start refurbishing computers for low-income individuals and families and humanitarian organizations in Canada and in the developing countries.
Second - with institutions which work with disadvantaged peoples in Canada and abroad and as such have a need for both the computers and the software to reduce costs, hopefully to nothing or close to it.
What we can bring to these strategic alliances is OK-Desktop from Open Knowledge Solution, a very advanced operating system and software packages especially designed for end-users who have little or no prior knowledge of computers. Towards this end a training site has established at Cultus Lake, B.C., Canada. This training center has as a goal to train and transfer KNOW-HOW to personnel from different charities in the field of recycling for reuse of PC computers. This consists of 4 components:
First – training in hardware
Second – training in installations
Third – training in the use of systems
Fourth – the donation of all operating systems and applications needed.
